Glassine is a transparent paper made from finely ground bleached pulp, which is largely greaseproof but not water-resistant.
It gets its high transparency from a very sharp satin finish.
It is used for window envelopes, kite paper, X-ray film protective bags, film negative sleeves and the packaging of sweets.
