Oduorless, non toxic mineral spirit
Izosol is a highly refined mineral spirit made from petroleum extracts. It can be used as a cleaner or general-purpose solvent for commercial and artist's oil paints.Izosol is made from the most refined and the least reactive type of petroleum extract availabe on the market today. The thorough refinig process allows to practically eliminate all of the aromatic compounds and/or chlorated hydrocarbons normally found in theses type of solvents: The aromatic content of Izosol in below 0,01 % compared to 30-35 % for conventional mineral spirits.Izosol is also a better alternative to other "odourless" solvents because a standard mineral spirit like what can be found in handware stores contains on average from 30 to 35 % of aromatic compounds which creates the characteristic annoying smell found in this type of solvent. The cleaning/refinig process that removes nocive aromatic compounds from these solvents reduces the smell. However, this smell disapperars well before all of the toxic compunds have been eliminated. So an odourless solvent can contain as much as 10 % of toxic aromatic or chlorated compounds. But it's not the case with Izosol becauseit is refined to the maximum : and only contains 0,01 % od nocive aromatics.
Quick facts:
Practically no long term toxicity, aromatic content under 0,01 %
A perfect replacement for conventional mineral spirits or other "odourless" solvents.
Does not dissolve natural resins (mastic, dammer, mastic ...)
Sugested uses:
Solvent for oil based paints and techniques.
Solvent for light cleaning of painting tools (brushes spatulas)
Amsterdam Gel Medium Glossy 094(2419)Purpose: To increase the gloss and transparency of acrylic paint while maintaining viscosity. Solvent-Free Gel
Gamblin Solvent-Free Gel is the only solvent-free painting medium that supports a broad range of painting techniques with minimal compromise.
Solvent-Free Gel gives colors more flow and transparency, yet holds the shape of your brushmark. Solvent-Free Gel has a moderately fast drying rate and increases gloss. Made from safflower oil and alkyd resin, Gamblin Solvent-Free Gel is non-toxic and contains no Gamsol or petroleum distillates.
In comparison to other solvent-free mediums, Gamblin Solvent-Free Gel supports the broadest range of painting techniques with the least compromise across color, dry time, texture and mark-making. To ensure proper drying of paint layers, Solvent-Free Gel should be used in moderation with oil colors. No more than 25% by volume. To avoid wrinkling, apply mixtures of Solvent-Free Gel and oil colors thinly.
To paint solvent-free, we recommend Gamblin Safflower Oil for cleaning brushes while you are working. After your painting session, brushes can be further cleaned using Gamsol and/or soap and water.

Primary Uses for Gamsol:
Thinning oil colors. A little goes a long way; stiff oil colors relax immediately when a little Gamsol is added. Be careful not to thin oil colors too much with solvent alone, this can compromise the ability of the paint to form a paint film.
Modifying painting mediums. Our Galkyd line of painting mediums are formulated with Gamsol, so they readily accept Gamsol as a thinning agent. Note: Gamsol should not be added to painting mediums made with natural resins (dammar, copal, mastic). They require strong solvents such as turpentine.
Studio clean-up: brushes, palettes, palette knives, etc.
How does Gamsol achieve this level of performance and safety? Most solvents available to artists come from the industrial paint industry where solvent power and cheapness is prized. Gamsol is special: it is made for products and processes that come into more intimate contact with the body such as cosmetics, hand cleaners, and cleaning food service equipment.
Gamsol is a petroleum distillate but all the aromatic solvents have been refined out of it, less than .005% remains. Aromatic solvents are the most harmful types of petroleum solvents.
The Gamsol SDS shows that it has an Exposure Limit Value higher than most solvents available to artists. In addition, Gamsol’s flash point allows it to ship via air cargo as a non-hazardous material.
All of these factors have lead to Gamsol being used widely in oil painting classrooms; in those classes, there are no solvent odors, only the wonderful smell of oil colors.
SDS
Gamsol is available in the following sizes: 4.2 oz,16.9 oz, 33.8 oz, 128 oz.
Secondary Containers
Solvents should be stored out of reach of children. As important, we recommend not pouring solvents into Mason jars, coffee cups, water bottles, plastic Solo cups, or any beverage container. It is best not to eat, drink, or smoke while painting. Thoroughly wash your hands after your painting session, and before eating.
In our own studios, we have found that metal solvent containers with “clip-on” lids, as well as wide glass jars with screw-on lids work best. Both include basins to allow pigments to settle on the bottom for re-use of solvent and can’t be easily mistaken for water cups. Secure lids also help prevent spills and solvent evaporation.
Cold Wax Medium
Dorland's Wax
Dorland’s Wax is a versatile cold wax medium made from pure wax and damar resin. Popular as a protective topcoat for sealing and finishing a variety of media from oil paintings to collage, Dorland’s Wax is especially popular as a varnish for watercolor and gouache paintings. Dorland’s Wax provides a durable waterproof finish, adding depth to color and allowing for glassless framing and display. The finish is malleable: leave it rough for a matte effect or buff with a rag after drying for a uniform high gloss.
Mix Dorland’s Wax with oil paints or powdered pigments like Pearl Ex to create a heavy bodied, super matte, fast-drying medium for “cold wax painting,” perfect for creating unique textures, impasto effects, and for layering and palette knife techniques. By varying the ratio of medium to colorant, you can easily control the transparency or opacity of the color. Add mineral spirits or solvent to thin the viscosity or adjust the dry time.
Dorland’s Wax also provides a beautiful finish on wooden objects, such as jewelry or furniture, as well as on metal, polymer clay, ceramics, drawings, photographs and more. Add a small amount of pigment, dye, oil color, or alcohol ink to tint the medium, or apply it straight for a classy, wax finished look.
Dorland’s Wax is a sealant, varnish, and medium, all in one. It won’t yellow over time, and will protect artwork for the ages.
Topcoat finish for: Watercolors, gouache, oils, acrylic, wood, polymer clay, pencil drawing, pen and ink, pour art, canvas, encaustics, ceramics, mixed media, collage, art paper & more
